Specialist Equipment, Plant and Transport

From Cuddy Group’s inception, the innovative use of plant and specialist equipment has put us ahead of our competition. That ethos remains as important as ever today. In fact, Cuddy Group boats one of the most extensive and specialised fleet in the UK which allows us to undertake out in-house works in a safe, efficient and environmentally – friendly manner. However, external hire enquiries are also welcomed. The majority of our hire today is either on a self-drive basis or the hire of specialist equipment.

Specialist Equipment, Plant and Transport

At the heart of the fleet are 360-degree tracked excavators from 1.5 to 110 tonnes, equipped as needed with specialist attachments. Within our fleet we also operate the world’s largest plate shears capable of cutting 75mm and shears weighting 8 tonnes that can single cut 850mm deep beams.

From mini through to high reach units, specialist attachments (rotating grapples, concrete cutters, plate or steel shears) are employed to increase productivity and safety and reduce operative fatigue.

Access equipment is also available in-house such as boom platforms available to reach up to 140 feet and scissor lifts to 50 feet.

To cater for civil engineering operations, we have hydraulic breakers, sheet piling hammers and pile cutters. The majority of excavators under 20 tonnes are equipped with hydraulic quick-hitches. Also available are articulated and ridged dump trucks between 25 and 50 tonnes, backhoe loaders, dozers, loading shovels, skid- steer loaders.

Specialist Equipment, Plant and Transport

The transport fleet has also been built around Cuddy Group’s activities; low loaders with a g.v.w. of 150 tonnes are capable of moving any item in the fleet and smaller items can be moved using a plant body attached to any one of 10 hook loaders. A tipper fleet of 25 allows materials to be moved efficiently on and off site.

Crushing and screening works have been undertaken for over 15 years. Modern remote controlled tracked equipment is available to produce the desired finished product(s).

To minimise the effect on the environment and reduce costs, Cuddy Group uses wood shredders and clippers to convert demolition waste into valuable commodity.

All equipment is maintained in our 8 bay workshop and welding bay.
